Reduce cost by installing a Hydrogen Generator

Thought I would pass this little trasure on and wonder what you

may think of this notion.

Click ion the link and read the page, watch the enbedded video

when you reach it and see of you are convinced. The system seems

to be quite simple really and if it actually does work could save

pounds on every trip to an ‘up country’ show.

here is a link to the we site…..they charge $67 for the instructions

and reckon it would cotst in UK terms £60 maximum with good

quality parts to install.

I f we could actually save that sort of fuel consumption in % terms

it could be worth considering?

Rally 2008

Thanks to a happy band of helpers the Rally held oin July 6th was a success.

In line with recent trends numbers attending were slightly down again this year but

there were over 200 through the turnstiles so to speak.

Net outcome for the Club is a modest surplus of income over expenditure and this

means that there probably will be asnother rally in 2009.

Once again thanks to all the helpers for both setting up and packingt away and of

course to the traders who made the effort to attend and without you all the event

would be doomed to failure.

73 for 2008 and roll on the 2009 event

Run to the Sun 2008 - Show & Shine

With a very wet start the day began and looked like it was going to be as bad as last year. However
after lunch the raid eased the skies began to brighten and wow, the sun appeared making the latter part
of the day dry and warm.

With just two of the Cornwall VW Owners Club present myself and ‘Bertie’ we were far from well represented
however there were still a large number of VW’s.

During the rainy period I sat in the van and worked stations on the 20m amateur radio HF band. With some interesting short skip propagation I held contacts with Scotland,Cumbria, Liverpool, France and Germany plus others.

CRAC Goonhilly Visit

As arranged we all congregated at the approach to the

main gate at Goonhilly and at around 19.05pm

Anthony Sutton arrived and enquired if all were present.

Those missing from the list were Peter G3WKP

and Dennis G7AGZ [he was unsure of attendance]

so it was decided to proceed.

Anthony talked at some length about the position Goonhilly

has found itself in with the loss of it’s contract to service

marine & Aeronautical communications to a site in the

Netherlands it soon became clear that on pure financial grounds

that satellite operations would be based at Madely from now on

and GH would be shut down. Decisions on the future are still

being considered wioth several options being looked at. The dishes

are, it is hoped either going to be sold or leased but if not by

September scrapping is likely to go ahead.

Aerial 1 will of course remain as it forms an integral part of the

visiter centre and is still capable of working operationally.

It was in around 1962 that the first reception was tracked

across the sky from the low earth orbit satellite Telstar.

Following that the Early Bird satellites came on stream and

subsequently, the satellites have become Geo Stationary

and need far less tracking. As with all forms of communication

times have moved on and now, massive bandwidths are

available by using Fibre Optic cables and the network of these

is now global in nature rendering the satellite dish virtually redundant.

Goonhilly has a period of some 10 years before the last of it’s

international cable operations comes to an end and there is still

an under sea cable linking to the Channel Islands to look after.

Also the BT fault diagnostics center is based here and at Edinburgh

so still a working establishment for the forseeable future although

the skyline is certainly going to change in the not too distant future.

The tour of what was left of the electronics and control functions

was fascinating and then we went intoAntenna 3. This is a 1970’s

[I believe] structure and the pictures show it from almost all angles.

Once inside it becomes all to apparent how large the structure actually is.

Certainly, with the equipment moved out it would be large enought to

become a family home, strange shape but never mind.

Taking the lift we went up to the business end of the dish and examined

the final piece of equipment that passes the TX signal to the dish

[see photo’s]. Anthony described the way this all worked and after,

Mark explained in some detail to Chloe what it was all about

[another Dr Vaughan in the pipeline I think]

Back outside to take a few late pictures as the sun had by

then dipped below the horizon.

Excellent couple of hours. We took the opportunity as this was

certainty a lash chance saloon situation, another 12 months and

it could all be gone save antenna number 1.

Thanks Anthony, much appreciated by all of us.

to prove you are over 14 years of age I think it is.

Decide if you want others to see a link to your E. Mail or not on the board

Don’t just read what Ken and I have popped there already. This is an interactive discussion

Forum, pick a topic, add a thread[post] and see what activity it generates.

Write about the antennas, rigs, microphones or anything related to the hobby. Ask for help,

Pop an antenna design on the forum for other to try. Write a potted review of how you got

on with a certain rig. Anything really.

Put items for sale on the for sale area. You are fully responsible for the advert and we will

accept no responsibility for any trade completed as a result. If you are buying you have to

ensure you are buying what you think just like buying from a newspaper advert. If you are

looking for something add a post to the wanted area, someone may have it gathering dust.

in something you want.

Play and enjoy.

I don’t expect to see bitching about it or wow it has been done. If you don’t like it

put a forum together yourself!
